The school is required by law to keep attendance records in line with the Department for Education guidelines. All absences must be accounted for, and reasons given when an unauthorised absence takes place. The school has a very good attendance record. Please help us to maintain it.
Advance notice of hospital or clinic appointments should be given to the Secretary, who will pass the message onto the Class Teacher. This is particularly important if children are expecting a cooked lunch as these have to be ordered by 9.30am.
If your child has an accident or is taken ill at school, we will notify you by telephone. Children who have been ill should not return to school until they are fit enough to join in all activities including playtimes and P.E.
Parents are urged not to take holidays in term time as it disrupts the learning and progress of the pupils concerned. If you plan to take a holiday during term time please fill in a form from the school office requesting Leave of Absence before you book your holiday. This is granted at the discretion of the Head Teacher. You will be informed of her decision.
Our school nurse maintains that a child who needs medicine during the day is not really well enough to be in school.
However if medicine has to be administered, you will be asked to complete a form authorising staff to administer the medicine, which should be clearly marked with the child's name.
No medicine, including throat sweets or lip balms are to be left in classrooms or cloakrooms at anytime but should be handed into the Secretary for safe-keeping.
The exception is inhalers for children with asthma. Inhalers should be clearly labelled and handed to the class teacher.
